Weak Diplomatic Response- Devyani Khobrgade’s Arrest In USA

The Government of India has conveyed its displeasure to the U.S.A. maintaining that rules have been violated in arresting Devyani Khobragade the Indian envoy charged with violating minimum wages laws of the land i.e. America. The anger displayed appears to be a fake one in the face of its timid track records while dealing with the American criminals involved in India.

Warren Anderson the then Union Carbide Corporation chief hailed as the butcher of Bhopal and responsible for putting thousands of people to death, disability, slow & painful deaths and deformed births inflicted by poisonous gas leakage from his factory had been accorded a safe passage  from India to America by the then Rajiv Gandhi government. Anderson just thumbed his nose at the Indian institutions and its law. The successive non-congress governments also followed the same foreign policy of coyness and cowardice and made no efforts to punish the American culprits or to extract optimum compensation for the gas victims. The judiciary also failed.

This great nation has been led at times by timorous leaderships who would suffer bowels upset when frowned at by the Americans. India is now a big economic, military and nuclear power, its people are brave and courageous. We have huge market which no country can ignore; we export scientists, technicians, engineers and medical professionals all over.  It cannot be cowed down any more by either our inimical neighbors or the USA.

The problem is that our political and bureaucratic set-up is made of rotten materials with no sense of self-pride for the country; it is corrupt and shameless too.

Desist from changing names of historical places & roads of the English era

Since 1947 the names of places, statues, roads and institutions associated with the English rulers are being changed by names particularly politically controversial ones. Wellington Crescent, Connaught place and many more such old names are now getting “indianized”. Is it chauvinism, patriotism or an effort to forget history in a way that suits the politicians? Were the English more barbaric, oppressive, atrocious, tyrannical and cruel than the fanatic and uncivilized bigots like the Turks, Afghans, Arabs, Moguls and Mongols?

It is shameful that we have roads in Delhi named after religiously intolerant and diabolically Mephistophelian characters like Aurangzeb.

Undoubtedly slavery and thralldom kills a nation’s conscience. But civilizations of the world have unfolded themselves over histories which one cannot afford to wipe out even if repugnant and abhorrent. If the English had not conquered India then the Indians certainly would not have been able to extricate themselves from the medieval slavery. Modern education, legal structures, law-codes, Science & technology and the unification of India from the Helmand to the Cape of Comorin not only politically but also through the networks of Railways and post & telegraphy was not less than a miracle those days. So it is invidiously devious to give the medieval religious obscurantist a priority over the English subjugators who never destroyed any place of worship unlike the Islamic invaders nor did they ever interfere with the religious predilections of the Indian people.

The politicians can obliterate some physical historical vestiges like the Taliban did by destroying the pre-Islamic Bamiyan Buddha but cannot bring back the ancient glory of the country ravaged and damaged by the foreign invaders who by their savagery tried to destroy the primordial Indian culture.

As a nation we failed to defend our culture and civilization against the foreign marauders right since the 7th century A.D. now we have no right to tamper with the historical facts pertaining to the English era.

Is Justice Ganguli “a victim of circumstances” ?

Yesterday I heard the Ex Supreme Court judge Ganguli professing his innocence on a news channel over allegation of sexual harassment of a law-interne.

I am deeply pained that a fair and impartial judge like Ganguli is embroiled in a controversy of such misdemeanor.  I have seen him in Patna High Court as a judge also. While at the Supreme Court he gave verdicts on corruption and scams that damaged the credibility of the UPA Government to an irreparable limit.

The alacrity of the Attorney General Vahanvati  in moving before an S.C. bench on this issue just when the blog of the girl-interne broke out does make me think whether Ganguli is “victim of circumstances” really. I have reasons to surmise because Vahanvati had eroded public trust in the backdrop of the CBI affidavit interpolations resulting in unceremonious exit of the then law minister Ashwini Kumar. The coalgate files went missing in a mysterious way. I wonder if this is a signal to judges taking ruthless judicial stance on corruption and mafia.
Nevertheless I do not have any judgmental reaction on this abhorrent incident. But as an ordinary citizen I do have anguish that a couple of Ex-S.C. entities have been given chairmanships of two statutory bodies in recent years  who had faced tangible charges of corruption but the UPA government had given them a clean chit. Is it some sort of quid pro quo? Can only the pliable survive in the system?

My point is that a person facing credible charges of misconduct must not either be appointed as a judge nor he should be elevated to the higher echelon.
Finally I stress the point that a fair & comprehensive inquiry should be made to go to the depth of the malaise and befittingly exemplary punishment must be handed down irrespective of the stature of the culprit.

If judiciary is debilitated then democracy will have no relevance at all.

Develop institutions of democracy to rate India as a true democratic country

Hillary Clinton has been fined 80 pounds by the traffic constable for illegally parking her car in London. This news goads me to think about how our police behaves in case of an MLA, MP, babu or even a Mukhia or ward Councilor parks his or her vehicle on the middle of the road. The traffic police would look in the opposite direction but it would pounce upon the poor rickshaw puller, auto driver, cyclist or a motor cyclist the moment they pause even at the way-side. It is rare but if an honest-upright policeman dares touch an influential offender he is bound to invite trouble for himself. People say, when the driver of the official car of the first Bihar Chief Minister Shri Krshna Singh parked the car illegally he had been fined by a police officer. The Chief Minister was very pleased and had rewarded the officer. But now this is anachronistic.

This is the difference in the concepts of democracy in the UK and that in our country. Democratic institutions in the UK are developed while ours are half baked.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had said India was not ripe for democracy so a benevolent dictatorship was needed to first cleanse the evils from society and politics. But this country adopted a model what is known as Gandhi-Nehru model that proved disastrous for the country. India was divided on religious lines still the problem plagues the nation. Corruption was institutionalized and got recognition and respectability. Constitutional provisions of even fundamental rights were conditioned under qualified specifications of parochial politics.

If we are to usher in a true democracy we shall have to develop our democratic institutions first. I would quote a couplet of Iqbal  "जम्हुरिअत एक तर्ज़--हुकुमत है कि जिसमें बंदों को गिना करते हैं तोला नहीं करते"

Pragya Singh Thakur a case of State discrimination

I wrote in my previous blog entitled "The terrorists in India are more privileged  than the unfortunate lady saint Pragya"

Even after six years the trial of the fabricated terror-case involving Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur is yet to start and come to a logical end. Our whole system is plagued by corrupt and pliable persons. The terrorists in India backed by Pakistan and pampered by communal "secularists" are being let off. They are even given compensation.

The denial of bail to the Cancer afflicted Pragya poses a question whether the judiciary can act at the desire of the home minister who violates the Article-15 of the Constitution of India by openly advocating that terrorists from a particular community be granted special treatment.

Shinde and Chidambram must be hauled up for launching propeganda like saffron terrorism. Why even not a single so called saffron terrorist has been convicted to this day? Mulayam, Maya, Vadra can be fortunate to go scot-free for amassing wealth beyond their legitimate sources of income. Raja and Kalmadi who looted public fund can get bail but a sick lady saint falsely implicated can not. She has no human rights and the human rights organizations thriving on public fund have no attention to her plight.

General V.K Singh should not share any security related clandestine operations intelligence with anyone including the media

Elements backed by Pakistan government and its terror machine the ISI are very active in India. They want to debilitate our institutions like army, I.B., R.A.W and other specialized defense units entrusted with the task to secure our country from external and internal machinations.
That is why a retired army chief who had frustrated the designs of the corrupt politicians to get kick-backs in defence purchase deals during his tenure is being targeted doggedly. He is being forced to reveal inputs of covert operations done in the interest of the nation by targeting his character. We appeal to General V.K Singh not to share any security related clandestine operations intelligence with anyone including the media. It is exactly what Pakistan and other inimical countries want through their agents in governance. General Singh must know that the several politicians, Journalists, bureaucrats, businessmen and so-called academics of India have been on the pay-roll of the USA and other countries. Osama Bin laden could not have been killed without bribing the Pakistanis in the army and government.
The Union Government must reply to the country as to why the secessionists in Jammu & Kashmir are living on public largesse, why the Abdullahs are playing double games, why the antinational there have not been crushed in a way the Americans do., what has been the account of thousands of crores of money pumped into the state by the Centre, why is the development not noticeable in commensurate with the money, why Article 370 is still a cruel joke for the rest of the Indians.
Terrorists killed by our brave forces are held as heroes by politicians who have no compunction to implicate officers who liquidated them.
Only yesterday the whole Government busied itself to get an ordinance in place to negate the Supreme Court Judgment on disqualifying the legislators convicted in crimes, only to benefit Laloo from probable corruption conviction.  The President should not act in haste and should discuss the matter with legal luminaries.
Rampant corruption, wretched economic situation, unprecedented price rise, communal vote politics, repeated unchallenged violations of our borders by belligerent neighbors and penetration of terrorists all where have been given a short shrift.
