Book media-men for coup, scoop & spook

One English daily from Patna today carries a sub-heading “Editors’ Guild slams Kejri, VK”. While its stand may be justified in regard to the conduct of Kejriwal who was himself a creation of the media but now hostile to it because the media has exposed his hypocrisies and administrative inefficiency.

But certainly General Singh was a victim of a well knit conspiracy carried out by a section of top politicians, bureaucrats and a few corrupt media men particularly the editor and the correspondent of a Delhi based news paper who had planted false report of army movement for a coup. This duo must be tried for their crime against State that had dangerous potential to destabilize the country. It should be thoroughly investigated whether they were acting for money or under scheme of foreign powers or political influence.

My blog on March 29, 2012 in Hindi justifies the innocence of General Singh in the face of the revelation of the then DGMO Chaudhary, made now, that the invidiously sinister news had made the top leadership panicky and that it was a routine exercise aimed at testing combative preparedness in foggy conditions. Now the whole country is laughing at the fidgety cowardice of the leadership.

Delhi C.M. Kejariwal’s list of corrupt politicians

Kejariwal has shown exemplary courage to produce in public a list of top corrupt politicians of India. But this list does not figure one of the most notoriously corrupt politicians of Bihar who has been convicted in a multi crore scam.

I appreciate Kejariwal’s efforts to bring the issue of corruption in politics and administration to the core of public debate. Though to my mind his administrative skills and genuine secularism remain to be tested. His hobnobbing with the fanatic and religious bigots in the Delhi elections for minority votes do make him the persona of the run of the mill.

Corruption in Indian society has acquired a halo of respectability and recognition. A vocal section of the elite society actually has no compunction about lionizing the corrupt otherwise the film & TV opera producer Ekta Kapoor would not have decided to make a film on a person like Azharuddin who had been indicted in the cricket match fixing. How a man whose compulsive propensity is selling the interests of the country for money can become an M.P. or be a role-model for the country?
