Suryanamaskar in Bihar Schools--- jittery politicians

News papers of Patna today report protests from some politicians against Suryanamaskar a yoga technique practiced by students in Bihar Schools in commemoration of Swami Vivekananda. They invidiously associate it with Hinduism, a primordial religion. Hinduism is inherently a secular Dharma with no element of fanaticism.   Now yoga has become so popular that the Arabs, the Americans, the Chinese, the Japanese and others are not only practicing and getting benefited but propagating as a genre of science.

I fail to understand why these communally rabid politicians are averse to Suryanamaskar. If they have problem with nomenclature; well they may rename it as Deedar e Aftab. The Bihar Government has also shown a panic reaction for vote-politics triggering hardening of attitude in the majority. It is very unfortunate. Appeasement is no secularism and not always bears electoral benefits. If such a harmless yoga posture is communal and banned by State then why does it allow Namaz in government offices?

Political communalism started in the name of secularism since Nehru and solidified by Indira  through the 42nd amendment of the Constitution of India when the word “secularism” was inserted with parochial motive. When Articles 14 & 15 are all inclusive then what was the need to contaminate the Constitution with the poison? The pity is that politicians want to perpetuate communalism as they have deliberately negated the Constitutional mandates as enshrined under the Directive Principles of State Policy particularly the Common Civil Code. These corrupt politicians want to divide the society, and vote-politics is the easiest way to get power without any constructive efforts for the prosperity of the country. This is the reason one is first a religious individual then an Indian.

PCI Chairman Markandey Katju turns politician

The appointment of unworthy people to important public posts is governed by predilections of the political dispensations of the day enjoying power at the central and provincial levels. The chairpersons of constitutional & statutory bodies have been appointed as spoils-system largesse in recent years. A considerable number of them are widely known to be lacking in integrity. Only a couple of years back the Supreme Court ordered for the removal of a tainted CVC. Thus institutions are defiled consciously for selfish and nefarious motives with corruption in the core.

In Bihar during so called mandalised politics all chairpersons of the Bihar Public Service Commission were jailed or suspended. I have myself been a victim of corruption when in the 39th BPSC exam I had secured more than 65% marks in all subjects. But I was not called for interview because I had been awarded diabolically only 10% (21 out of 121 ) marks in G.S Ist paper. This was incredulous machination by the then Chairman. When this came in the news papers one of the members of the BPSC wrote to the Chairman to put the GS Ist answer script before the commission. When it was put up then two members said that the examinee had been very consistent and called for black-listing of the examiner but nothing happened. The baffling point was that even if minus the paper I would have qualified. The member had also exhorted the chairman to award average marks in accordance with the “theory of probability”. If that had happened I would have topped the exam. Judiciary did not want to venture into the so-called autonomy of the so-called constitutional commission.

I remained a loser victimized by the system. When the present state government came into power I wrote to the then D.G of the Vigilance Bureau who now is a member of the State Human Rights Commission. But again no action.

However we  all know how the system works.

Prayag Mahakumbh Tragedy a failure of the U.P Government & the Railways

Yesterday more than 40 devotees who had come to take a holy dip into the confluence of the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mythological Saraswati lost their lives in a horribly painful stampede in the holy city of Prayag. Many more lives of the wounded were lost due to inefficient and insensitive local administration that completely failed to rise to the occasion to provide quick medical help.

Any such mammoth congregation requires meticulous, anticipated and pre-planned   safety & security set-up in place by the administration. Social as well as administrative pre-audit of measures is inalienably linked with the primary duty of the government to tackle a potential man made disaster like the one happened yesterday.

U.P has become a misruled state. Goondaism, lawlessness, communal strives and collapse of the structure of governance has become order of the day.
